Rules of Poker

Since the time poker is being played online, the number of novices who would want to take a plunge at poker is increasing. The primary reason for online poker being popular is ease of accessibility. You can conveniently play poker game from your home, office, at a friends place or at the internet café at your leisure time. Since some people are new to poker, they may find it difficult to understand the rules of poker game. More so, as in online poker there will be no one to guide you.

Most people do not understand which hand is better than the other in the poker. Let us see some of the hands at the poker table. We will begin with the strongest hand first and proceed in descending order when you play poker.

Royal Flush:

A person having a sequence of 5 cards in one suit from 10 to Ace is the strongest hand in poker.

Straight Flush:

A same suit sequence of 5 cards is called straight flush. If two or more people have straight flush, then the person having the highest card is the winner.

Four of a Kind:

If all the four cards are of the same value, then it is called four of a kind. For example, 4 jack.

Full House:

When you have 3 cards of the same value and the other 2 cards are of similar value then it is called a full house. For example, you have 3 kings and 2 jacks.

Flush:

When you have 5 cards in the same color, the person with high card is the winner. For example, if you have 5 low denomination cards in the same color, still you may not win the game.

Straight:

If you have 5 cards in a row, but in different color, then it is called straight. If more than one person has straight, then the person with high denomination card is the winner.

Three of a Kind:

If you have three cards with the same denomination then it is called three of a kind. Person with the highest cards is the winner.

Two Pair:

It occurs, if you have two different pairs, such as 3 with 3 and 10 with 10, along with another card. Here again, person with higher pairs is the winner.

Pair:

When 2 of the cards are of the same denomination, it is called a pair.

High Card:

In case, where none of the above hands are made, then a person having the highest denomination card is the winner.
